One of the greatest joys of being a photographer is getting to witness and document the growth of a family over time. And there is one family that holds a special place in my heart—a family I’ve had the privilege of photographing for over 8 years. From a family of three to a vibrant, loving crew, their journey has been an absolute delight to capture.

When I first met them, they were a family of three—Kels, Matt, and their little one – little Lochlan. The connection between them was so palpable, and it was clear right from the start that they were a tight-knit family. I photographed them in that early chapter of their lives, and little did I know that this would be the beginning of a beautiful, ongoing photographic story.

As time passed, I had the joy of photographing them through some incredibly special milestones. I was there when Kels was expecting, capturing the excitement and anticipation that comes with waiting for a new addition to the family. The maternity session was full of joy and anticipation, and it was a true honour to be part of that magical time.

Not long after, I was invited back to photograph their newborn—so tiny and perfect, just like every new life is. The transition from a family of three to a family of four was seamless, and it was amazing to watch this family grow and bond in those first few precious months.

As the years rolled on, we continued to meet up for annual family sessions. Each time I photographed them, I was struck by how effortlessly they flowed into every prompt, every pose. By now, they were absolute pros. Whether it was a casual candid shot or a more structured pose, they nailed it every time. But it wasn’t just about the poses or the picture-perfect moments—it was about the connection. And the connection between Lochlan and Bryden? It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

Lochlan and Bryden have the kind of sibling bond that makes you believe in the magic of family. The way they play off each other’s energy, their infectious laughter, and their ability to make even the simplest moments feel like pure joy is something truly special. You can tell they have an incredible relationship, and it’s a privilege to capture that on camera. It’s one of those rare sibling dynamics that’s both heartwarming and inspiring. The way they light up when they’re together reminds me why I do what I do.

Looking back at the photos from those early years, it’s amazing to see how much they’ve grown, but what stands out even more is how consistent their connection has been. This family may have changed over the years, but their love and bond have remained unwavering.

The best part about this family? They’re always up for anything. Whether it’s running through a field, playing outdoor games, or sharing an inside joke, they bring their whole selves to every session, and it shows in the images. The smiles are genuine, the laughter is real, and the memories we create together are ones that I’m honored to be a part of.
