Baby Girl Emilia | Baby Portraits Calgary

One of the recent baby’s that I photographed was baby girl Emilia. Her family was so amazing to work with. They were all so incredibly nice and easygoing. Big brother, Elliott was so well behaved while in the studio! It makes my job a lot easier when siblings are so cooperative. As a mom of two myself, I know personally how important those sibling images are – so when they go well it is just icing on the cake. When Emilia arrived at the studio for her baby portraits, she was wide awake. When chatting with her mom during the session, she said that Emilia was very content just being awake and didn’t think Emilia would be one of those babies that just slept through the whole thing. Emilia didn’t want to miss anything! As with most baby sessions, we start with family images, and it did take a while to get Emilia wrapped and sleeping. Emilia’s family is absolutely beautiful and I love their images. After the family portraits were completed, we moved on to solo images of baby Emilia. Throughout the rest of the session, she kept waking up and wanting to see what was going on. Because of this, we did a few beautiful wrapped setups. Towards the end we managed to take a couple of unwrapped portraits and these are some of my favorites. These were done fairly quickly as I was only able to get one or two frames before Emilia woke up with each pose.

I love the colors that we used for Emilia’s session. Usually, with family portraits, I like to use neutrals, but for the rest of the session, we added some more soft colors. The mix of beautiful pastels and neutrals was so perfect for Emilia and her beautiful skin tone. Lastly, we did some simple black and white baby portraits of Emilia awake. I love how these are just about the baby and nothing else. You really get to see a glimpse into their little personalities. These are some of my favourites from Emilia’s baby portrait session in my northwest Calgary studio.
